Schneider Electric Altivar 12 ATV12 Modbus register map
Variable speed drive for asynchronous motors. The map covers the control and status words, speed and frequency references, output frequency, current, power and thermal states, fault code and fault history, identification, the Modbus line parameters and the communication scanner, and key motor, ramp, speed and PID settings. The full parameter list is in the communication parameters file.
- Protocol
- Modbus RTU
- Defaults
- Modbus RTU through the RJ45 port, 2-wire RS485. Factory settings: drive address OFF (set 1 to 247 before use), 19200 bps, 8 data bits with even parity and 1 stop bit (8E1), time-out 10 s (Modbus manual BBV28590 p. 9).
- Addresses in the manual
- 0-based protocol addresses, as sent on the wire
- 32 and 64-bit values
- Not stated in the manual
- Registers listed
- 101
- Checked against
- BBV51917 ATV12 Communication Parameters V1.4IE05 (Excel file; copy hosted by a third party on eurotherm.com, no copy on download.se.com or se.com could be found; the Schneider document page was unavailable when checked), read together with the vendor-hosted Modbus Communication Manual BBV28590 06/2012
Address base. The parameters file prints each logic address in decimal and as 16#hex (for example CMD 16#2135 = 8501, LFRD 16#219A = 08602). The Modbus manual (BBV28590 p. 14) shows a write to W9001 sent with word number 2329 hex, which is 9001, and states that scanner addresses are always the Modbus address. The decimal address printed in the source is therefore the address sent in the Modbus frame. Address 8501 in the manual is address 8501 on the wire.
Word order. Every variable is one 16-bit word, so word order does not apply.
Modbus Poll and the Modbus protocol itself count from 0. The "Wire address" column is the number to type into Modbus Poll.
Downloads
The register table has every column on this page. The blocks file imports into Modbus Poll. The template JSON holds the same blocks plus unit, scale and access for scripts.

Open in Modbus Poll
- Download the Modbus Poll blocks file.
- Open Modbus Poll, connect to the device and set its unit ID. The manual does not state the word order for 32-bit values. Check one known value (a voltage or a counter) and switch the setting if it reads wrong.
- In the blocks panel on the right, click Import CSV and pick the file. CSV import is a Pro feature. Without Pro, Modbus Poll polls the first 20 values of your blocks.
- The wire addresses are already in the file, so there is no 0-based or 1-based conversion to do.
Once the values look right, export the tag list to Ignition, Kepware, Node-RED, Home Assistant or Voltrus SCADA.
