Export Modbus Poll tags to your SCADA

Modbus Poll can write the registers you are polling as a tag file for the system that will run them. Pick a format in Export to SCADA, save the file, and import it. One guide per system:

Availability. Export to SCADA was added to the Modbus Poll and BACnet Explorer source after Modbus Poll 1.3.5 and BACnet Explorer 1.2.1 were prepared. It is in the open source repository on GitHub and ships with the next app update; if you do not see the button in the app yet, you are on a build from before that update. It needs Pro.

  • Ignition: OPC tags on the Modbus driver, with addresses, data types and scaling.
  • Kepware: a CSV tag list for a Modbus TCP/IP Ethernet device.
  • Node-RED and RustRED: a flow with Modbus read nodes and named values.
  • Home Assistant: a modbus: block with sensors and binary sensors.
  • Voltrus SCADA: a device file you drop on the Modbus devices page.

Generic CSV and JSON are in the same dialog if your system is not on the list. They hold the host, unit ID, area, address, type, scale and name of every tag.

Starting from a manual instead of a device? The register map library has a blocks file for common meters, drives and inverters that you can import into Modbus Poll, check against the device, and then export.

Export your Modbus Poll tags to a SCADA

Read the registers you care about in Modbus Poll, then use Export to SCADA in the blocks panel (Pro) to write the tag list for Ignition, Kepware, Node-RED, RustRED, Home Assistant or Voltrus SCADA.
