Omron E5CC Modbus register map

Panel-mount digital temperature controller from the E5@C family with thermocouple, RTD and analog inputs, PID control and several alarm outputs. This map covers the Modbus RTU variable area, including process value, set points, alarms, status words and communications settings.

Protocol
Modbus RTU
Defaults
Unit number is set between 1 and 99. Baud rate options are 9.6, 19.2, 38.4 and 57.6 kbit/s. For Modbus the data length must be 8 bits, with 1 stop bit plus parity or 2 stop bits with no parity. Send data wait time defaults to 20 ms.

Address base. The manual prints addresses in hex and offers two modes. This file uses the two-byte mode column (one 16-bit register per value), which starts at hex 2000. The worked read and write examples on p. 4-12 use the printed value directly in the frame (for example hex 2105), so printed equals wire address. Addresses here are the decimal equivalents of the printed hex. Four-byte mode uses a separate address column and 32-bit values. Address 8192 in the manual is address 8192 on the wire.

Word order. Two-byte mode gives one 16-bit value per register. In four-byte mode a value spans two registers read from an even address. Status words read in two-byte mode are split into a lower and an upper word at separate addresses. Access flags in this file follow the manual's monitor versus setting classification, because the variable table has no access column.

Modbus Poll and the Modbus protocol itself count from 0. The "Wire address" column is the number to type into Modbus Poll.

The register table has every column on this page. The blocks file imports into Modbus Poll. The template JSON holds the same blocks plus unit, scale and access for scripts.

Open in Modbus Poll

  1. Download the Modbus Poll blocks file.
  2. Open Modbus Poll, connect to the device and set its unit ID. The manual does not state the word order for 32-bit values. Check one known value (a voltage or a counter) and switch the setting if it reads wrong.
  3. In the blocks panel on the right, click Import CSV and pick the file. CSV import is a Pro feature. Without Pro, Modbus Poll polls the first 20 values of your blocks.
  4. The wire addresses are already in the file, so there is no 0-based or 1-based conversion to do.

Once the values look right, export the tag list to Ignition, Kepware, Node-RED, Home Assistant or Voltrus SCADA.
