Deep Sea Electronics DSE7320 MKII Modbus register map
The DSE7320 MKII is an automatic mains (utility) failure control module with RS232 and RS485 Modbus RTU ports. DSE's operator manual says the module register table is available on request, so this map uses DSE's GenComm register standard (document SP-228, titled DSE7310 GENCOMM), which defines the registers by page. It covers communications status, generating set status, basic, extended and derived instrumentation, accumulated counters, system control keys, identity strings and the named alarm conditions. The document is shared by many DSE families and does not list per model which registers the DSE7320 MKII implements, so unimplemented registers return the sentinel values described in the document. The document never names the DSE7320 MKII: the rows are chosen from its allocations headed 72xx/73xx and 72xx/73xx/61xx/74xx MKII (page 154), the generic 8xxx/7xxx/6xxx allocation (pages 6 and 7) and the all-product tables, and applying them to the 7320 MKII is an inference from those family headings. Register values for read-only flags on registers 256, 259 and 264 follow the document's note for 72xx/73xx modules. Identity strings are listed as read only, but the document says they may be read/write or read only depending on the product.

- Defaults
- Factory settings per the DSE7310 MKII and DSE7320 MKII operator manual 057-253 (issue 4 p. 103 to 104, issue 7 p. 104 to 105): 19200 baud, Modbus slave address 10. GenComm byte format (SP-228 p. 4): 8 data bits, no parity, 2 stop bits on RS485 with 73xx modules always using 1 stop bit, and 1 stop bit on RS232. Only function 03 (read multiple registers) and function 16 (write multiple registers) are defined; reads of up to 125 registers and writes of up to 123 registers.

- SP-228 REV A, Deep Sea Electronics GenComm register standard titled DSE7310 GENCOMM (copy hosted by a third party; the vendor-hosted copy could not be fetched). The document prints no issue date. Its register tables name 72xx/73xx, 73xx MKII, 61xx MkII, 74xx MKII and 8xxx families.
Address base. SP-228 section 8 states that register_address = page_number * 256 + register_offset, and that the document always refers to register addresses which start at 0 as defined in the Modbus protocol and not to one-based register numbers. Addresses in this file are page times 256 plus offset, for example page 4 offset 7 is 1031. The cite column gives the page and offset table in SP-228. Some registers need a password first: write the password and its ones-complement to registers 288 and 289 (page 1 offsets 32 and 33); the document does not say whether a given module has the passwords enabled. Address 0 in the manual is address 0 on the wire.
Word order. SP-228 section 8 note 15 states that 32-bit values are stored with the most significant bits in the register with the lowest address, and that the first register of a 32-bit number is always aligned at an even address. Two ASCII characters in one register put the first character in the most significant bits. Bits within registers are numbered 1 to 16 in the document with bit 16 as the most significant. Instrumentation values can return sentinel values: 0xFFFF unimplemented, 0xFFFE over range, 0xFFFD under range, 0xFFFC transducer fault, 0xFFFB bad data (0x7FFF and so on for signed, 0xFFFFFFFF and so on for 32-bit).
Modbus Poll and the Modbus protocol itself count from 0. The "Wire address" column is the number to type into Modbus Poll.

Scale is the number to multiply the raw value by to get the unit. Types with more than one register (32 and 64-bit) follow the word order above.
Open in Modbus Poll
- Download the Modbus Poll blocks file.
- Open Modbus Poll, connect to the device and set its unit ID. In Modbus Poll set Word order to AB CD.
- In the blocks panel on the right, click Import CSV and pick the file. CSV import is a Pro feature. Without Pro, Modbus Poll polls the first 20 values of your blocks.
- The wire addresses are already in the file, so there is no 0-based or 1-based conversion to do.
Once the values look right, export the tag list to Ignition, Kepware, Node-RED, Home Assistant or Voltrus SCADA.
